Battery test equipment supplier Bitrode has appointed Jia Xu to support inside sales throughout Asia at the company’s headquarters in St. Louis, US.

Shanghai-born Xu has an in-depth knowledge of Chinese market requirements, according to Bitrode.

Austria-based battery research firm Varta Micro Innovation (Varta) has researched anode materials for lithium-ion batteries using a customised rolling-ball viscometer.

Varta researched the qualification and optimisation of new electrolytes such as silicon and discovered that the mobility of lithium-ions is greatly dependent on the viscosity of the electrolyte and that viscosity should be a key focus in technology research.

Digatron to launch silicon carbide based battery test equipment

Germany's Digatron Power Electronics is to unveil its next-generation battery/cell testers with silicon carbide (SiC) technology at the 2014 European Lead Battery Conference (ELBC) in Edinburgh.

The universal battery tester is designed to test batteries ranging from 0-20V, the cell tester to test cells from 0-6V. The charging/discharging rate is up to 150A per 1.8kW circuit.

Ador Powertron and Digatron Power Electronics have hired Somnath Singha as director for the companies’s Indo-German joint venture (JV) Ador Digatron India in Pune, India.

Singha has worked for critical power supplier Emerson and was, before joining the JV, CEO of Adino Telecom where he restructured the company. He has more than 20 years of experience in the uninterruptible power supplier and battery industry.

Battery test equipment supplier Bitrode has introduced a battery laboratory testing system for high power applications.

The FTF-HP testing system is designed to produce simulations of rapidly changing power demands in electric or hybrid electric vehicles. The unit has a charging/discharging rate of up to 500kW.
