Emerson Network Power has introduced a new UPS system in the EMEA region.

The Liebert 80-eXL is available in 160, 200, 300, 400 and 500 kW, intended for medium-to-large data centres and facilities. Up to eight units can be connected in parallel, and single units can be serviced while the rest remain running.

The system works with VRLA batteries with a permissible battery voltage range from 396 to 700 V.

The 80-eXL offers a conversion efficiency of up to 97%, and up to 99% in ECO mode. The new UPS system is also compatible with its predecessor, the 80-NET UPS range.

Emerson Network Power (Emerson) has secured a deal with Perth-based distributor UPS West to sell the company’s uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and thermal management solutions in Australia.

UPS West will offer Emnerson’s AC UPS Liebert NXC, Liebert GXT3 and the Liebert DM thermal management solution. The Australian company will also have access to trainings and technical resources of Emerson.

Emerson aims to make the company’s solutions more available to a wider marketplace.

According to UPS West, there is a gap in the supply of power and thermal data room solutions in small to medium sized businesses in metro and regional Western Australia.

"As we operate in the datacentre industry, we have found a need for the Liebert DM for small rooms in major buildings in the central business district as well as in regional sites,” said UPS West business development manager Ian Hart.

“UPS West is fast establishing a foot hold in the WA market by offering customers industry leading IT infrastructure and management solutions and we look forward to working with them as a valued addition to Emerson’s growing network,” said Emerson director of national sales Robert Linsdell.

This summer, Emerson appointed Bangladeshi company Computer Source as its distributor for UPS in the growing IT market of Bangladesh.

The distribution contract is part of Emerson’s plans to expand its presence in the growing IT market of Bangladesh.

"Computer Source has a strong relationship with the Bangladesh channel community along with a successful history and robust distribution presence with a network of 1,500 (approx.) partners spread across more than 40 cities,” said Sanjay Zadoo, country manager channel business of Emerson Greater India.

The agreement aims to target the growing need of UPS and data centre infrastructure management solutions among small and medium businesses in Bangladesh.

“With Emerson Network Power’s reliable and highly effective solutions, together with our expertise in this model, the venture will help cater to the increasing businesses across the country,” said Abu Mostofa Chowdhury Sujon, director of Computer Source.

Earlier this month, Bangladeshi prime minister’s energy affairs adviser endorsed to increase installations of UPS across the country on large scale, as the demand of reliable power is growing.

Emerson Network Power has expanded its 400V DC power platform with a 120kW power system for critical power applications.

The NetSure 9500 is designed for telecom, data centre and commercial building applications. The design shall enable deployment in various configurations, allowing scalable growth to avoid stranded capacity. An integrated distribution module faciliates extended load distribution positions.

The system provides a battery cabinet containing one string of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries. It uses the same architecture like the 30kW NetSure system.

“The NetSure 9500 provides an alternative to traditional -48V DC power systems in the telecom space and to AC UPS systems in data centers. It also is a natural fit for commercial buildings, where DC microgrids that integrate distributed energy sources are increasingly common”, said Thomas Bennett, vice president of product management for the energy systems business of Emerson. Moving from -48V to 400V DC, reduces the costs of telecom providers by up to 80%, stated the company.

The first deployment of the product is by US-based Steel ORCA, which provides AC and DC solutions. “We recognise that the industry is looking for ways to maintain or improve reliability while maintaining or reducing cost,” said Dennis Cronin, chief operating officer of Steel ORCA.
