British loadbank manufacturer Crestchic has made three changes to its leadership group by appointing a new technical proposals manager, head of engineering and finance manager.

Neil Barber has been named the company’s new Head of Engineering, and he says he intends to spend his first year in the role using his experience in R&D to standardise and improve the company’s various loadbanks.

With 15 years of experience as an electrical engineer at Crestchic - both as a design engineer and design manager – Garry Chamberlain has been appointed Technical Proposals Manager.

Chamberlain will be responsible for reviewing the suitability and identify improvements of current products, as well as explore new technologies for customers and create bespoke solutions.

Crestchic also appointed Louise Passey as the new finance manager.

US-based fuel cell plant manufacturer FuelCell Energy has appointed a new member to its board of directors.

Natica von Althann will serve on the FuelCell Energy Audit & Finance and Compensation committee.

Von Althann joins the board with previous experience from utilities after six years as a member of the PPL Corporation board of directors.

With the appointment of von Althann, the FuelCell Energy Board of Directors now counts eight members.

International power solutions company Socomec has appointed Sushil Virmani as new Managing Director for the group’s Indian operations.

As Managing Director Virmani will oversee all of the company’s business applications and follow up Socomec’s targets for growth in the Indian market.

Virmani, a graduate from Punjab Engineering College brings with him over 30 years of industry experience from brands like Siemens, BHEL  and Numeric Power. Before joining Socomec this month Virmani served nearly 15 years as Eaton’s director for sales and service in South Asia.

Virmani is replacing Olivier Tremouille, who after three years in the Indian market takes on a new company project in the France Benelux region.

International industrial group Socomec has appointed a new regional general manager for Southern Europe.

Italian Giancarlo Battini has been hired to oversee four business areas: Critical Power, Power Control & Safety, Energy Efficiency and Solar Power.

Battini most recently held the position of VP for commercial UPS solutions at AEG Power Solutions, and has previoulsy been managing director for Emerson Power Network Italy and president of Italy’s National Association of "Uninterruptible Power Supply Manufacturers."

Power systems company Navitas Systems has announced the hiring of States Mead as Vice President of manufacturing.

Mead will be in charge of overall production, quality, engineering, warehouse and equipment.

Mead brings with him 18 years of experience in manufacturing and management from positions at Morey Corporation, Tyco Electronics and Panasonic.

Mead will take on the role effective immediately.

European fuel cell industry association, New Energy World Industry Grouping (NEW-IG) has announced the election of three new members of its executive board.

Andreas Frommel, VP for Business and Commercial Development at FuelCell Energy Solutions has been appointed vice-chair of energy transition solutions, while Thomas Melczer, Director of Business Development at Proton Motor has become head of membership/ JU commitment.

Gaelle Hotellier, VP and Head of Hydrogen Solutions at Siemens was re-elected as head of energy.

All six current board members will represent the industry’s interest in the Governing Board of the Fuel Cells Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking, a public-private partnership between the European Commission, European industry and research organisations.

The board will also lead NEW-IG’s advocacy work at EU level.

The new members have been elected to serve on the board for a two-year term.

UPS company Tripp Lite is increasing its focus on the African market by appointing Eran Kessel as Director of Sales for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since 2012 Kessel has been in charge of the company’s marketing efforts in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia – and he will retain the role as Director of International marketing for Europe, Africa and Asia alongside his new role.

Darwin Haines, VP of sales in EMEA and Asia commented the appointment in a statement: “He possesses the competent leadership and experience we need to head our aggressive business expansion project in Sub-Saharan Africa. Eran is ideally suited to help us stimulate growth and accelerate the development of our business in the dynamic SSA region.”

Kessel takes on the job with nearly 20 years of experience from marketing and sales management in the data centre industry.
