Australian energy storage company RedFlow has sold its first commercial large scale ESS to a company owned by its major shareholder technology investor Simon Hackett.

Base64 Pty Ltd is due to take delivery of the Large Battery Storage (LBS) unit containing 60 RedFlow high energy density zinc-bromide flow battery modules (ZBM) in June 2015.

Australian battery developer and manufacturer Redflow’s core zinc-bromide flow battery has received CE approval – paving the way for sales in Europe.

The approval allows the zinc-bromide flow batteries (ZMB) to be available in commercial quantities and Redflow’s partners to integrate them for use in energy storage systems in Europe.

Australia’s battery maker RedFlow has completed trials of a large-scale energy storage system (ESS) with its zinc-bromine flow batteries.

The company charged and discharged 48 batteries in four strings, producing 50V to 720V on a DC bus coupled and tested on a 14kW inverter connected to the grid.

Australia’s flow battery maker RedFlow has signed a non-exclusive supply agreement with Austrian-based energy storage developer BlueSky Energy.

The agreement also gives RedFlow a presence in Europe with provided office space from BlueSky Energy in Austria.
