The Japanese diesel engine manufacturer Yanmar has acquired a 70% stake in Spanish genset manufacturer Himoinsa through a consolidated operation agreement.

The companies started collaborating in the genset industry in 2006, and president of Himoinsa, Francisco Gracia says this deal was the logical next step.

Gracia said: “We believe the bond created between the two companies will be stronger than if we were operating separately.”

Himoinsa has for long sought to operate as a vertical manufacturer, and already produces its own alternators, electric controllers and canopies. The arrangement allows Himoinsa to add generator engines to its line of products.

The deal does not involve any changes in branding, company name or employee structure for either party involved.
