American Vanadium gets first flow battery ESS order

Canada-based energy storage developer American Vanadium has received an order for the company’s vanadium redox flow battery energy storage system (ESS) CellCube.

Renewables company Newfound Energies contracted American Vanadium to deploy two 30kW to 130kWh CellCube ESS for the integration into a remote microgrid fuel and logistics centre.

US based Jabil Circuit and Camco Clean Energy's subsidiary REDT have signed a contract that enables Jabil to manufacture REDT's vanadium redox flow battery.

The agreement allows Jabil to produce the battery on behalf of REDT, which faciliates the battery company to manufacture at large scale and accelerate its market deployment.

UniEnergy launches grid-scale flow battery

Seattle-based energy storage manufacturer UniEnergy Technologies (UET) has launched its grid-scale flow battery system, Uni.System.

The Uni.System vanadium flow battery provides short and long duration buffering capabilities to integrate intermittent resources into the grid. The modular factory-integrated battery consists of five 20 feet standard containers providing 500kW of power for four hours, power up to 600kW and up to 2.2MWh of energy.

In a demonstration project featuring its technology, Canada-based American Vanadium is to install an energy storage system for New York City’s Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) in downtown Manhattan.


The system will be based on American Vanadium’s Cellcube vanadium redox flow technology, and will complement an automated demand response system which is already in place.
