Caterpillar donates genset to founding father’s home
Global power company Caterpillar has donated a 500 kW diesel genset to Monticello, the historical residence of U.S. founding father Thomas Jefferson.
The backup power solution includes the generator and three automatic transfer switches at the in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Caterpillar’s distributor in Virginia and southern West Virginia has donated its services in the form of technical support, commissioning and testing of the power solution.
Caterpillar made a similar gesture in 2010 when it donated one of its 350 kW Cat C15 as a standby power solution to Monticello’s Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies.
